Synopsis

The Adobe Media Encoder instance installed on the remote host is affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability.

Description

The version of Adobe Media Encoder installed on the remote macOS host is prior to 15.2. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the APSB21-32 advisory.

 - Adobe Media Encoder version 15.1 (and earlier) is affected by an Out-of-bounds Read vulnerability when parsing a specially crafted file. An unauthenticated attacker could leverage this vulnerability to disclose sensitive memory information in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file. (CVE-2021-28569)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Adobe Media Encoder version 15.2 or later.
