Synopsis

Adobe Animate installed on remote macOS or Mac OS X host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities

Description

The version of Adobe Animate installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is prior to 20.5.2 or 21.0.4. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the apsb21-21 advisory.

 - Adobe Animate version 21.0.3 (and earlier) is affected by an Out-of-bounds Read vulnerability. An unauthenticated attacker could leverage this vulnerability to disclose sensitive information in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file. (CVE-2021-21072, CVE-2021-21073, CVE-2021-21074, CVE-2021-21075, CVE-2021-21076)

 - Adobe Animate version 21.0.3 (and earlier) is affected by a Memory Corruption vulnerability. An unauthenticated attacker could leverage this vulnerability to achieve arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file. (CVE-2021-21071)

 - Adobe Animate version 21.0.3 (and earlier) is affected by a Heap-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability. An unauthenticated attacker could leverage this vulnerability to achieve arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file. (CVE-2021-21077)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Adobe Animate version 20.5.2 or 21.0.4 or later.
