Synopsis

The Adobe Digital Editions instance installed on the remote host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Adobe Digital Editions installed on the remote macOS host is prior to 4.5.9. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the APSB18-27 advisory.

 - Adobe Digital Editions versions 4.5.8 and below have a heap overflow vulnerability. Successful exploitation could lead to arbitrary code execution. (CVE-2018-12813, CVE-2018-12814, CVE-2018-12823)

 - Adobe Digital Editions versions 4.5.8 and below have an out of bounds read vulnerability. Successful exploitation could lead to information disclosure. (CVE-2018-12816, CVE-2018-12818, CVE-2018-12819, CVE-2018-12820, CVE-2018-12821)

 - Adobe Digital Editions versions 4.5.8 and below have an use after free vulnerability. Successful exploitation could lead to arbitrary code execution. (CVE-2018-12822)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Adobe Digital Editions version 4.5.9 or later.
