Synopsis

The Adobe InDesign instance installed on the remote host is affected by a denial-of-service vulnerability.

Description

The version of Adobe InDesign installed on the remote macOS host is prior to 16.0.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the APSB20-66 advisory.

- Adobe InDesign version 15.1.2 (and earlier) is affected by a NULL pointer dereference bug that occurs when handling a malformed .indd file. The impact is limited to causing a denial-of-service of the client application. User interaction is required to exploit this issue. (CVE-2020-24421)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Adobe InDesign version 16.0.0 or later.
