Synopsis

Remote host is affected by a xss vulnerability.

Description

The version of Fortigate installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-21-057 advisory.

 - An improper neutralization of input during web page generation ('Cross-site Scripting') [CWE-79] vulnerability in FortiOS version 7.0.5 and prior and 6.4.9 and prior may allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to perform a reflected cross site scripting (XSS) attack in the captive portal authentication replacement page. (CVE-2022-23438)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Please upgrade to FortiOS version 7.0.6/7.2.0 or later.
