Synopsis

Fortinet Firewall is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of Fortigate installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-21-074 advisory.

- An improper validation of certificate with host mismatch [CWE-297] vulnerability in FortiOS versions 6.4.6 and below may allow the connection to a malicious LDAP server via options in GUI, leading to disclosure of sensitive information, such as AD credentials. (CVE-2021-41019)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Please upgrade to FortiOS version 6.2.10/6.4.7/7.0.2 or later.
