Synopsis

Fortinet Firewall is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FortiWeb installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-21-158 advisory.

- An improper limitation of a pathname to a restricted directory ('Path Traversal') vulnerability [CWE-22] in FortiWeb management interface 6.4.1 and below, 6.3.15 and below, 6.2.x, 6.1.x, 6.0.x, 5.9.x and 5.8.x may allow an authenticated attacker to perform an arbitrary file and directory deletion in the device filesystem. (CVE-2021-42753)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Please upgrade to FortiWeb version 6.3.16/6.4.2 or later.
