Synopsis

Fortinet Firewall is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of Fortigate installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-21-173 advisory.

- A buffer overflow [CWE-121] in the TFTP client library of FortiOS before 6.4.7 and FortiOS 7.0.0 through 7.0.2, may allow an authenticated local attacker to achieve arbitrary code execution via specially crafted command line arguments. (CVE-2021-42757)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Fortigate version 5.0.999999 / 5.2.999999 / 5.4.999999 / 5.6.999999 / 6.0.14 / 6.2.10 / 6.4.8 / 7.0.3 or later.
