CBL Mariner 2.0 Security Update: libreswan (CVE-2024-3652)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 210019

Synopsis

The remote CBL Mariner host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of libreswan installed on the remote CBL Mariner 2.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2024-3652 advisory.

- The Libreswan Project was notified of an issue causing libreswan to restart when using IKEv1 without specifying an esp= line. When the peer requests AES-GMAC, libreswan's default proposal handler causes an assertion failure and crashes and restarts. IKEv2 connections are not affected. (CVE-2024-3652)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
