Synopsis

The remote FreeBSD host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the 8caa5d60-a174-11ef-9a62-002590c1f29c advisory.

 The command ctl_persistent_reserve_out allows the caller to specify an arbitrary size which will be passed to the kernel's memory allocator.
 A malicious guest could cause a Denial of Service (DoS) on the host.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the FreeBSD security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
