Synopsis

The remote host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of Mattermost Server installed on the remote host is prior to 9.11.3, 10.0.1 or 10.1.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the MMSA-2024-00385 advisory.

 - Mattermost versions 10.0.x <= 10.0.0 and 9.11.x <= 9.11.2 fail to properly query ElasticSearch when searching for the channel name in channel switcher which allows an attacker to get private channels names of channels that they are not a member of, when Elasticsearch v8 was enabled. (CVE-2024-52032)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mattermost Server version 9.11.3, 10.0.1, 10.1.0 or later.
