Synopsis

The remote host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of Apple Safari installed on the remote host is prior to 18.1. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the 121571 advisory.

 - An information leakage was addressed with additional validation. This issue is fixed in visionOS 2.1, iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, macOS Sequoia 15.1, Safari 18.1. Private browsing may leak some browsing history.
 (CVE-2024-44229)

 - A memory corruption issue was addressed with improved input validation. This issue is fixed in iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, watchOS 11.1, visionOS 2.1, tvOS 18.1, macOS Sequoia 15.1, Safari 18.1. Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to an unexpected process crash. (CVE-2024-44244)

 - This issue was addressed through improved state management. This issue is fixed in iOS 17.7.1 and iPadOS 17.7.1, visionOS 2.1, iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, macOS Sequoia 15.1, Safari 18.1. An attacker may be able to misuse a trust relationship to download malicious content. (CVE-2024-44259)

 - The issue was addressed with improved checks. This issue is fixed in tvOS 18.1, iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1, iOS 17.7.1 and iPadOS 17.7.1, watchOS 11.1, visionOS 2.1, macOS Sequoia 15.1, Safari 18.1. Processing maliciously crafted web content may prevent Content Security Policy from being enforced. (CVE-2024-44296)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Apple Safari version 18.1 or later.
