Synopsis

The remote install of Adobe FrameMaker has a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Adobe FrameMaker installed on the remote Windows host is prior to Adobe FrameMaker 2020 16.0.7 / Adobe FrameMaker 2022 17.0.5. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the apsb24-106 advisory.

- Adobe Framemaker versions 2020.7, 2022.5 and earlier are affected by a Stack-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability that could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user.
Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Adobe FrameMaker FrameMaker 2020 Update 7 (with updated DLL - no version revision), FrameMaker 2022 Update 5 (with updated DLL - no version revision) or later.
