Synopsis

The remote host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of FBX SDK installed on the remote host is prior to 2020.3.5. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the adsk-sa-2023-0025 advisory.

- A maliciously crafted FBX file, when parsed through Autodesk FBX SDK, may force an Out-of-Bounds Write vulnerability. A malicious actor may leverage this vulnerability to cause a crash, cause data corruption, or execute arbitrary code in the context of the current process. (CVE-2023-7298)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to FBX SDK version 2020.3.5 or later.
