Synopsis

The remote host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of LangChain installed on the remote host is prior to 0.1.35. It is, therefore, affected by a XML External Entity (XXE) vulnerability in the langchain-ai/langchain repository allows for a Billion Laughs Attack, a type of XML External Entity (XXE) exploitation. By nesting multiple layers of entities within an XML document, an attacker can cause the XML parser to consume excessive CPU and memory resources, leading to a denial of service (DoS).

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to LangChain version 0.1.35 or later.
