Synopsis

The remote host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of Mattermost Server installed on the remote host is 9.11.x prior to 9.11.6, 10.0.x prior to 10.0.4, 10.1.x prior to 10.1.4, or 10.2.x 10.0.x prior to 10.2.1. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service vulnerability due to a failure to properly validate post types. A remote attacker can send a carefully crafted payload to deny service to users with the sysconsole_read_plugins permission via creating a post with the custom_pl_notification type and specific props.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mattermost Server version 9.11.6, 10.0.4, 10.1.4, 10.2.1, 10.3.0, or later.
