Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 15.1.10.6 / 16.1.5.2 / 17.1.2. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K000140578 advisory.

 A stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability exists in an undisclosed page of the BIG-IP Configuration utility that allows an attacker to run JavaScript in the context of the currently logged-in user. This vulnerability is due to an incomplete fix forCVE-2024-31156.(CVE-2025-24320)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K000140578.
