Synopsis

The remote Azure Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of python-pygments installed on the remote Azure Linux 3.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2021-27291 advisory.

 - In pygments 1.1+, fixed in 2.7.4, the lexers used to parse programming languages rely heavily on regular expressions. Some of the regular expressions have exponential or cubic worst-case complexity and are vulnerable to ReDoS. By crafting malicious input, an attacker can cause a denial of service.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
