Linux Distros Unpatched Vulnerability : CVE-2024-29039

critical Nessus Plugin ID 227721

Synopsis

The Linux/Unix host has one or more packages installed with a vulnerability that the vendor indicates will not be patched.

Description

The Linux/Unix host has one or more packages installed that are impacted by a vulnerability without a vendor supplied patch available.

- tpm2 is the source repository for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM2.0) tools. This vulnerability allows attackers to manipulate tpm2_checkquote outputs by altering the TPML_PCR_SELECTION in the PCR input file.
As a result, digest values are incorrectly mapped to PCR slots and banks, providing a misleading picture of the TPM state. This issue has been patched in version 5.7. (CVE-2024-29039)

Note that Nessus relies on the presence of the package as reported by the vendor.

Solution

There is no known solution at this time.
