Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of python-pillow installed on the remote host is prior to 2.0.0-23.gitd1c6db8. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2025-2784 advisory.

Buffer overflow in the ImagingLibTiffDecode function in libImaging/TiffDecode.c in Pillow before 3.1.1 allows remote attackers to overwrite memory via a crafted TIFF file. (CVE-2016-0740)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update python-pillow' to update your system.
