Synopsis

Fortinet Firewall is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FortiWeb installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-24-439 advisory.

- A improper limitation of a pathname to a restricted directory ('path traversal') in Fortinet FortiWeb versions 7.0.0 through 7.6.0 allows attacker to execute unauthorized code or commands via crafted requests. (CVE-2024-55597)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

For 7.0.x / 7.2.x, see vendor advisory. For 7.4.x, upgrade to FortiWeb version 7.4.6 or later. For 7.6.x, upgrade to FortiWeb version 7.6.1 or later.
