Synopsis

The remote AIX host is missing a security patch.

Description

The version of AIX installed on the remote host is prior to APAR IJ53792. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the IJ53792 advisory.

 - IBM AIX 7.2 and 7.3 nimsh service SSL/TLS protection mechanisms could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands due to improper process controls. (CVE-2024-56347)

 - IBM AIX 7.2 and 7.3 nimesis NIM master service could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands due to improper process controls. (CVE-2024-56346)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Please apply the appropriate interim fix per APAR IJ53792.
