F5 Networks BIG-IP : AngularJS XSS vulnerability (K32412075)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 233421

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K32412075 advisory.

angular.js prior to 1.8.0 allows cross site scripting. The regex-based input HTML replacement may turn sanitized code into unsanitized one. Wrapping elements in ones changes parsing behavior, leading to possibly unsanitizing code. (CVE-2020-7676)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the F5 Networks BIG-IP security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

The vendor has acknowledged the vulnerability, but no solution has been provided.
Refer to the vendor for remediation guidance.
