Amazon Linux AMI : golang (ALAS-2025-1971)

high Nessus Plugin ID 234706

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux AMI host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of golang installed on the remote host is prior to 1.23.7-1.50. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS-2025-1971 advisory.

Calling Decoder.Decode on a message which contains deeply nested structures can cause a panic due to stack exhaustion. This is a follow-up to CVE-2022-30635. (CVE-2024-34156)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the tested product security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update golang' to update your system.
