Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for net-snmp.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 / 5 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2008:0529 advisory.

- net-snmp SNMPv3 authentication bypass (VU#877044) (CVE-2008-0960)

- net-snmp: buffer overflow in perl module's Perl Module __snprint_value() (CVE-2008-2292)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL net-snmp package based on the guidance in RHSA-2008:0529.
