Synopsis
The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security-related patch.Description
Philipp Thomas discovered that the ppscan function of nasm contained an off-by-one error. If a user or automated system were tricked into assembling a specially crafted ASM file, a remote attacker could execute arbitrary commands with user privileges.Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.
