Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for ecryptfs-utils.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 / 6 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2011:1241 advisory.

- ecryptfs: multiple flaws to mount/umount arbitrary locations and possibly disclose confidential information (CVE-2011-1831, CVE-2011-1832, CVE-2011-1834, CVE-2011-1835, CVE-2011-1837)

- ecryptfs-utils: incorrect mtab group ownership (CVE-2011-3145)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL ecryptfs-utils package based on the guidance in RHSA-2011:1241.
