Debian DSA-2371-1 : jasper - buffer overflows

medium Nessus Plugin ID 57511

Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

Two buffer overflows were discovered in JasPer, a library for handling JPEG-2000 images, which could lead to the execution of arbitrary code.

Solution

Upgrade the jasper packages.

For the oldstable distribution (lenny), this problem will be fixed in version 1.900.1-5.1+lenny2. Due to technical limitations of the Debian archive software, the oldstable update cannot be released synchronously with the stable update.

For the stable distribution (squeeze), this problem has been fixed in version 1.900.1-7+squeeze1.
