Synopsis

A telephony application running on the remote host is affected by a denial of service vulnerability.

Description

According to the version in its SIP banner, the version of Asterisk running on the remote host is potentially affected by a vulnerability that could allow a remote attacker to crash the server. This issue could be exploited when a call is put on hold and the entity placing the call on hold contains the configuration item 'mohinterpret' set to the value 'passthrough'. An additional requirement is that the call is placed on hold with no 'music-on-hold' class name selected.

Solution

Upgrade to Asterisk 1.8.12.1 / 10.4.1 / 1.8.11-cert-2 or apply the patches listed in the Asterisk advisory.
