The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for python.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2012:0745 advisory.

- python: potential XSS in SimpleHTTPServer's list_directory() (CVE-2011-4940)

- python: distutils creates ~/.pypirc insecurely (CVE-2011-4944)

- python: hash table collisions CPU usage DoS (oCERT-2011-003) (CVE-2012-1150)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL python package based on the guidance in RHSA-2012:0745.
