Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for libxslt.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 / 6 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2012:1265 advisory.

- libxslt: Heap address leak in XLST (CVE-2011-1202)

- libxslt: Out-of-bounds read when parsing certain patterns (CVE-2011-3970)

- libxslt: DoS when reading unexpected DTD nodes in XSLT (CVE-2012-2825)

- libxslt: Use-after-free when processing an invalid XPath expression (CVE-2012-2870)

- libxslt: Heap-buffer overflow caused by bad cast in XSL transforms (CVE-2012-2871)

- libxslt: Heap-double-free in xmlFreeNodeList (CVE-2012-2893)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL libxslt package based on the guidance in RHSA-2012:1265.
