Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for flash-plugin.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 / 6 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2014:0137 advisory.

 The flash-plugin package contains a Mozilla Firefox compatible Adobe Flash Player web browser plug-in.

 This update fixes one vulnerability in Adobe Flash Player. This vulnerability is detailed in the Adobe Security bulletin APSB14-04, listed in the References section. Specially-crafted SWF content could cause flash-plugin to crash or, potentially, execute arbitrary code when a victim loads a page containing the malicious SWF content. (CVE-2014-0497)

 All users of Adobe Flash Player should install this updated package, which upgrades Flash Player to version 11.2.202.336.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL flash-plugin package based on the guidance in RHSA-2014:0137.
