Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 14.04 LTS host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-2280-1 advisory.

It was discovered that MiniUPnPc incorrectly handled certain buffer lengths. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause applications using MiniUPnPc to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libminiupnpc-dev, libminiupnpc8 and / or miniupnpc packages.
