Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for java-1.4.2-ibm-sap.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2012:1332 advisory.

 IBM J2SE version 1.4.2 includes the IBM Java Runtime Environment and the IBM Java Software Development Kit.

 This update fixes several vulnerabilities in the IBM Java Runtime Environment and the IBM Java Software Development Kit. Detailed vulnerability descriptions are linked from the IBM Security alerts page, listed in the References section. (CVE-2012-1713, CVE-2012-1717, CVE-2012-1718, CVE-2012-1719)

 All users of java-1.4.2-ibm-sap are advised to upgrade to these updated packages, which contain the IBM J2SE 1.4.2 SR13-FP13 release. All running instances of IBM Java must be restarted for this update to take effect.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL java-1.4.2-ibm-sap package based on the guidance in RHSA-2012:1332.
