Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

Several vulnerabilities have been discovered in tcpdump, a command-line network traffic analyzer. These vulnerabilities might result in denial of service (application crash) or, potentially, execution of arbitrary code.

Solution

Upgrade the tcpdump packages.

For the stable distribution (wheezy), these problems have been fixed in version 4.3.0-1+deb7u2.

For the upcoming stable distribution (jessie), these problems have been fixed in version 4.6.2-4.
