Cisco ASA Content Security and Control Security Services Module (CSC-SSM) DoS (cisco-sa-20160309-csc)

high Nessus Plugin ID 90066

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The remote Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) is missing a vendor-supplied security patch. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service vulnerability in the Content Security and Control Security Services Module (CSC-SSM) due to improper handling of HTTPS packets.
An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, by sending a high rate of HTTPS packets, to exhaust available memory resources, resulting in a denial of service condition.

Solution

Upgrade to the relevant fixed version referenced in Cisco bug ID CSCue76147.
