Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 14.04 LTS / 16.04 LTS host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-3110-1 advisory.

David Lamparter discovered that Quagga incorrectly handled certain IPv6 router advertisements. A remote attacker could possibly use this issue to cause Quagga to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected quagga package.
