Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

Cory Duplantis discovered a buffer overflow in the R programming language. A malformed encoding file may lead to the execution of arbitrary code during PDF generation.

Solution

Upgrade the r-base packages.

For the stable distribution (jessie), this problem has been fixed in version 3.1.1-1+deb8u1.

For the upcoming stable distribution (stretch), this problem has been fixed in version 3.3.3-1.
