Synopsis

The remote host is running a version of RealPlayer multimedia application that may be vulnerable to a buffer overflow attack vector.

Description

Versions of RealPlayer 18.1.6.x prior to 18.1.6.161 on Windows are potentially affected by an overflow condition that is triggered as certain input is not properly validated when handling a specially crafted MP4 file with an overly long size value for the 'Sample Size' member of an 'stsz' structure. This may allow a context-dependent attacker to cause a buffer overflow, potentially allowing the execution of arbitrary code.

Solution

Windows users should upgrade to RealPlayer 18.1.6.161 or later.
