Synopsis

The cURL program is a library and command-line tool for transferring data using various protocols, including HTTP, FTP, and LDAP. A vulnerable version of cURL was detected from the host.

Description

Versions of cURL / libcURL older than 7.40.0 are unpatched for a security bypass vulnerability because it fails to properly handle URLs with embedded end-of-line characters. Specifically, this issue affects the 'parseurlandfillconn()' function of the 'lib/url.c' source file. An attacker can exploit this issue to inject additional headers to the request or construct additional requests.

Solution

Upgrade the affected packages; the next version of cURL/libcURL that fixes the issue is cURL 7.40.0.
