Atlassian Confluence Server 4.1.x < 4.1.9 XSS

low Nessus Network Monitor Plugin ID 9631

Synopsis

The remote Confluence server is affected by a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability.

Description

Versions of Confluence 4.1.x prior to 4.1.9 contain a flaw that allows a reflected XSS attack. This flaw exists because the 'pages/includes/status-list-mo' script does not validate input passed via the URL before returning it to users. This may allow a context-dependent attacker to create a specially crafted request that would execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session within the trust relationship between their browser and the server.

Solution

Upgrade to Confluence 4.1.x version 4.1.9 or later.
