Mozilla Firefox < 50.0.2 RCE

high Nessus Network Monitor Plugin ID 9850

Synopsis

The remote host has a web browser installed that is vulnerable to a remote code execution (RCE) attack vector.

Description

Versions of Mozilla Firefox prior to 50.0.2 are unpatched for a use-after-free condition in 'dom/smil/nsSMILTimeContainer.cpp' that is triggered when handling SVG animations. With a specially crafted web page, a context-dependent attacker can dereference already freed memory and execute arbitrary code.

Solution

Upgrade to Firefox version 50.0.2 or later.
