Synopsis

The remote Bitbucket server is affected by a Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF/XSRF) attack vector.

Description

Versions of Bitbucket prior to 4.0.0 contain a flaw as HTTP requests do not require multiple steps, explicit confirmation, or a unique token when performing certain sensitive actions. By tricking a user into following a specially crafted link, a context-dependent attacker can perform a CSRF/XSRF attack causing the victim to make changes to project avatars.

Solution

Upgrade to Bitbucket version 4.0.0 or later.
