    Marsu discovered that the 'set_color_table()' function in the SUNRAS     plugin is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow.
  Impact :

    An attacker could entice a user to open a specially crafted .RAS file,     possibly leading to the execution of arbitrary code with the privileges     of the user running GIMP.
  Workaround :

    There is no known workaround at this time.

A buffer overflow has been identified in Gimp's SUNRAS plugin in versions prior to 2.2.15. This bug could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the victim's computer by inducing the victim to open a specially crafted RAS file.

Updated gimp packages that fix a security issue are now available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

This update has been rated as having moderate security impact by the Red Hat Security Response Team.

Users of The GIMP should update to these erratum packages which contain a backported fix to correct these issues.

It was discovered that Gimp did not correctly handle RAS image format color tables. By tricking a user into opening a specially crafted RAS file with Gimp, an attacker could exploit this to execute arbitrary code with the user's privileges.
