The remote Ubuntu 16.04 LTS host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-3009-1 advisory.

    Edwin Trk discovered that Dnsmasq incorrectly handled certain CNAME responses. A remote attacker could     use this issue to cause Dnsmasq to crash, resulting in a denial of service.

  - Fix PXE booting for UEFI architectures (fate#322030).

  - Drop PrivateDevices=yes which breaks logging     (bsc#902511, bsc#904537)

  - Build with support for DNSSEC (fate#318323, bsc#908137).

The version of dnsmasq installed on the remote host is at least 2.73 and prior to 2.76, and thus, is affected by a denial of service vulnerability when handling a reply that a given name is empty while the A or AAAA record is defined locally and in a hosts file.
