  - Add fixes for some crashes, taken from upstream git     (boo#988745 boo#991450 CVE-2016-6352) :

The remote Ubuntu 14.04 LTS / 16.04 LTS host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-3085-1 advisory.

    It was discovered that the GDK-PixBuf library did not properly handle specially crafted bmp images,     leading to a heap-based buffer overflow. If a user or automated system were tricked into opening a     specially crafted bmp file, a remote attacker could use this flaw to cause GDK-PixBuf to crash, resulting     in a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary code. This issue only affected Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and     Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. (CVE-2015-7552)

    It was discovered that the GDK-PixBuf library contained an integer overflow when handling certain images.
    If a user or automated system were tricked into opening a crafted image file, a remote attacker could use     this flaw to cause GDK-PixBuf to crash, resulting in a denial of service, or possibly execute arbitrary     code. This issue only affected Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. (CVE-2015-8875)

    Franco Costantini discovered that the GDK-PixBuf library contained an

    out-of-bounds write error when parsing an ico file. If a user or automated system were tricked into     opening a crafted ico file, a remote attacker could use this flaw to cause GDK-PixBuf to crash, resulting     in a denial of service. This issue only affected Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. (CVE-2016-6352)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

This update for gtk2 fixes the following security issues :

  - CVE-2016-6352: Some crashes were fixed, including a out     of bounds write in the OneLine32() function that could     be used by attackers to crash GTK/GDK programs.

  - CVE-2013-7447: Avoid overflow when allocating a cairo     pixbuf (bsc#966682).

  - The OneLine32 function in io-ico.c in gdk-pixbuf before 2.35.3 allows remote attackers to cause a denial     of service (out-of-bounds write and crash) via crafted dimensions in an ICO file. (CVE-2016-6352)

  - Integer underflow in the load_resources function in io-icns.c in gdk-pixbuf allows context-dependent     attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and program crash) via a crafted image entry     size in an ICO file. (CVE-2017-6313)
