    Isaac Bennetch discovered that phpMyAdmin was incorrectly restricting user access due to the behavior of     the substr function on some PHP versions. An attacker could use this vulnerability to bypass login     restrictions established for users that have no password set. This issue only affected Ubuntu 14.04 ESM.
    This issue only affected Ubuntu 14.04 ESM and Ubuntu 16.04 ESM. (CVE-2017-18264)

This update for phpMyAdmin 4.7.8 fixes the following issues :

  - CVE-2018-7260: self-cross site scripting (XSS)     vulnerability in the central columns feature     (boo#1082188) This version also fixes some minor     functionality bugs. The previous update already fixed     CVE-2017-1000499.

According to its self-reported version, the phpMyAdmin application hosted on the remote web server is 4.7.x prior to 4.7.8. Versions since 4.3 are also affected, but they are no longer supported. It is, therefore, affected by a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in db_central_columns.php. A remote, authenticated attacker can exploit this, by convincing a user to click a specially crafted URL, to execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session.
