Atlassian Confluence < 7.0.1 Improper Authorization

medium Web App Scanning Plugin ID 112875

Synopsis

Atlassian Confluence < 7.0.1 Improper Authorization

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the Atlassian Confluence application running on the remote host is prior to 7.0.1. It is, therefore, affected by a missing authorization check vulnerability in the Atlassian Troubleshooting and Support Tools (ATST) plugin prior to version 1.17.2 which was bundled in Confluence Server & Confluence Data Center allowing an unprivileged user to initiate periodic log scans and send the results to a user-specified email address.

Note that the scanner has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Atlassian Confluence version 7.0.1 or later.
