Atlassian Confluence 8.6.x < 8.9.3 Cross-Site Scripting

high Web App Scanning Plugin ID 114455

Synopsis

Atlassian Confluence 8.6.x < 8.9.3 Cross-Site Scripting

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the Atlassian Confluence application running on the remote host is prior to 7.19.25, 7.20.x prior to 8.5.11 or 8.6.x prior to 8.9.3. It is, therefore, affected by a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability which allows an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary HTML or JavaScript code on a victims browser which has high impact to confidentiality, high impact to integrity, no impact to availability, and requires no user interaction.

Note that the scanner has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Atlassian Confluence version 8.9.3 or later.
