Mastodon 4.1.x < 4.1.15 Unrestricted File Upload

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the version of Mastodon running on the remote host is prior to 3.5.19 or 4.0.x prior to 4.0.15 or 4.1.x prior to 4.1.15 or 4.2.x prior to 4.2.7. Therefore, it may be affected by a lack of media type verification of Activity Streams objects allows impersonation of remote accounts.

Note that the scanner has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mastodon version 4.1.15 or later.
